This project aims at synthesizing conjugated polymers (CPs) possessing unconventional structures from a common set of trans-enediyne (tEDY) monomers. Such monomers were originally prepared for the synthesis of substituted polyacetylenes, which failed miserably, but can instead be applied for the access of several series of unique CPs, including poly(X-acetylene)s as carbyne mimics, boron-doped polyacetylene (BDPA), and Pt-segmented polyacetylene (Pt-PA).
